We brought you some American glam/sleaze this week. This week we featured the cock rock of Mad Margritt! If you haven't heard of these guys yet you've got to check them out. They're music is a little more on the glam side in a Dokken or Warrent kind of way, but often melodic, and lately a bit harder edged which is a nice direction for the band. But they dress more like Skid Row, with plenty of black leather, and I do like a rocker in tight leather pants! And, of course, they've all got the requisite long hair. Yum! This Atlanta, Georgia based band consists of lead vocalist, Eddie Smith, who also plays guitar, lead guitarist and keyboardist, Scott Banks, bass player, Skip Mullis, and drummer, Danny Belli. With great song writing in the finest tradition of the best 80s bands, a gorgeous lead singer with spectacular pipes and very talented musicians,
these guys are really going places. Be sure to grab some of their CDs and catch them live when they come to a town near you!

Mad Margritt has been in existence for over 10 years. They've had five CD releases including the first one in 1997, mostly with Perris Records, plus were included on two compilation releases, "Bon Appetite - A Tribute to the Bon Scott Years of AC/DC" and "Hollywood Hairspray - Volume 3".

The band has been compared to such 80s heavyweights as Skid Row, Dokken, Def Leppard, Poison, Ozzy, Warrant, Ratt, Black 'N Blue and Bon Jovi, among others. But, don't be misled. Mad Margritt is no clone of any 80s band, nor are they trying to be. They have their own unique style and even diversity in their various songs. With the rising interest in glam and sleaze rock, these guys are perched perfectly to cash in on a growing fan base all over the world!

Mad Margritt has made very wise choices when it comes to playing shows. Sure they perform at many small clubs, and they play a LOT of gigs. They also have played shows all over the U.S. However, one of the smartest moves they've made is making sure to get themselves included on the same tickets with a large number of well known bands, thus guaranteeing that they play in front of large crowds giving themselves as much exposure as possible. The band has performed with such notables as KISS, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Poison, Warrant, Ratt, Skid Row, Great White, Tesla, Slaughter, Winger, the BulletBoys, Pretty Boy Floyd, Bret Michaels, Quiet Riot, LA Guns, Queensryche, Faster Pussycat, Helix, and Bang Tango. Perhaps one of the biggest feathers in their hats came in 2008 when they performed in front of 30,000 fans at the South Texas Rock Fest!
The band's latest offering, "Animal", was released on September 25th, 2007 by Perris Records. The band has received great support from their label! This release has been distributed not only in the U.S., but also in the U.K., The Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Spain, Austria, Belgium, and Switzerland.

Mad Margritt has also been receiving great promotion by getting airplay on many radio stations in the U.S. and Europe, including XM Radio's hard rock station, THE BONEYARD, KNAC in Los Angeles, The Classic Metal Show, Extreme Radio, and Forbidden Radio. Not only that, but the video for their song, "LOADED GUN", off of their most recent CD, "Animal", is being played nationwide on Rocknation TV!

This high energy, hard rockin' band is primed for the big time. Their fan base continues to grow. In fact, their CD, "Animal", is the best selling one they've had yet. As soon as glam/sleaze rock explodes, and we all know it will, this band will be at the forefront, kickin' ass and takin' names! So, don't be left behind. Check 'em out and get their CDs to add to your collection. Their web site is www.madmargritt.com, and for those of you on MySpace you can find their page at www.myspace.com/madmargritt and add them as a friend. You can purchase their CDs and other merchandise from both of these sites. Also, don't miss my review of their latest CD, "Animal", and my interview with lead vocalist, Eddie Smith!

We had Middle Finger Mob for you during this week! They were the winners of our "Favorite New Band" contest for the month of March. Once again, a great band was chosen as the winner and we're very happy to have brought this band to you. Middle Finger Mob's music comes right out of the gutters and back alleys of Hollywood. Their hard rockin' original style combines everything from late 70s punk to 80s sleaze and everything in between and beyond. They're shooting a much needed heavy dose of rock 'n' roll right into the vein of the L.A. rock scene, and the global rock scene for that matter.

Middle Finger Mob's songs reflect what the members live and see in their lives in L.A., from love to death, from good times to seeing friends spiral out of control, and more. One special song, "Save a Place in Heaven", pays tribute to Traci Michaelz, a good friend of the band and former member of the Peppermint Creeps, who passed away last year. The band also does a fantastic cover of Cheap Trick's song, "Surrender". They even have a power ballad entitled "I Don't Miss You". I'm not usually one for ballads, as many of you know, but I really like this song! The rest of the band's music flat out rocks, too. There isn't a single song that I've heard from them that I don't like. Freekshow, the band's vocalist, growls out song lyrics with power and spirit. Guitarist, Shawn Smash, delivers machine gun riffs and melodic solos that would make Slash sit up and take notice. The band's rhythm section of D.J. Cruise on bass and Danny Boy Virus on drums are very tight and make noise you feel deep in your gut. And, the lovely Lenka Danger's backing vocals harmonize perfectly with Freekshow and Shawn.

Middle Finger Mob formed earlier this year. The band members' previous bands include Hollywood 77, Total Chaos, 17 Crash, and Smash 77. Hollywood 77 performed all over southern California as a cover band whose shows included tunes from the late 70s punk era. Some of the members of Hollywood 77 then decided they'd like to start an all original band, and so Middle Finger Mob was launched.

If there is one trait Middle Finger Mob's members all share, it is a love for this thing we call rock 'n' roll. Like so many of us, they are out to show that rock is not dead, and they've made one hell of a start in proving just that. The band is now set to release their debut CD, "Songs of Life, Sex & Death", and will be performing at their CD release party at the world famous Whiskey A Go-Go on May 21st, along with Zankoma and Spektra. What's more rock 'n' roll than having your debut album release party at the Whiskey!

The Middle Finger Mob have many more shows coming up, including a multi-state tour later this year. They will also perform at the Traci Michaelz memorial show at the Key Club in Hollywood on May 30th, along with Traci's former band, The Peppermint Creeps, and many others. I look forward to seeing them when they come to Phoenix later this year!

To hear some of their music, and for show info and info on how to get your hands on their new CD, visit Middle Finger Mob's MySpace page. We'll also be listing their show info on our Events page. To learn more about the band, don't miss my interview with their vocalist, Freekshow. Rock on my friends!
