Innocent Rosie
March 16-23, 2009
This week we proudly spotlighted up-and-coming Swedish band, Innocent Rosie. After reviewing their debut album, "Bad Habit Romance", I knew I had to feature this band. Their deliciously sleazy style of rock 'n' roll kicks ass! Included here is the bio I received from the band and an interview conducted via email. Enjoy!
One recent change to the above bio is the addition of new member, Dixxi, on lead guitar. We have brand new pics here of the band members!
Now for my interview with Innocent Rosie:

Before getting started, I want to thank Innocent Rosie for taking time to complete this interview!
EP (Electric Pussycat): Let's start with your album "Bad Habit Romance". It was just released worldwide on Feb. 18th on Swedmetal Records, and I want to encourage everyone to get a copy of this fantastic CD. How are record sales going so far?
IR (Innocent Rosie): Can't complain at all! We haven't seen any numbers of the sales yet but since it got such fucking good reviews all over, everyone we meet seems to buy it. It's awesome to be out with a CD, after all the struggling from the grass root level and now its finally out. It's so hard to sell records these days, but as long as we can go on tour and make a living off it, which means a slice of pizza and sleeping in a van, we're happy.
EP: Do all the members of I.R. have similar musical influences, or are each members' influences very different? And, who are those influences?
IR: Were all down with rock n' roll; that's quite obvious. But, yeah, everyone listens to different kinds of music (punk, blues, RnB). That's what makes it Innocent Rosie in the end; everyone puts their thing into it.
EP: There are so many talented bands coming out of Sweden right now. I would imagine Stockholm (or maybe some other Swedish city) is much like Hollywood was back in the late 80s. Could you describe the music scene there, including who you think are the best bands, besides I.R. of course, and the best clubs (that way any of us who visit will know where to go and who we should see)?
IR: We don't really care about the surrounding scene at all. But, Stockholm (and Sweden in general) has spawned a lot of great bands since the early days of music. So I guess it's a legacy. But sure, give Vains of Jenna, Panzer Princess, Midnight Cowboys and Baby Jane (neither from Stockholm though) a listen! Great bands, with more of a raw energy to them. And, Sticky Fingers, Debaser, Pub Anchor, Arenan, Tantogården. There is a hell of a lot of 'em venues!
EP: Since I'm in the U.S., I'd like to ask what your experience was like when I.R. played here in the U.S.? How were the crowd responses?
IR: Great! Just being over in California was cool, since the vibe there is awesome! Totally different from Sweden, for sure!
EP: Where will I.R. be touring this year?
IR: Everywhere, haha! As long as we've got somewhere to sleep! Benches do work; we've tried. But, almost all over Europe, and hopefully the U.S again later this year! We've got an Italian tour coming up in April, then were off to Germany, England and so on. Japan would be awsome!
EP: What was the best, most memorable, show that your band has ever performed?
IR: When all of us had a stomach illness, including the support band. It was absurd being on stage and having to run over to the side all the time, but we pulled it off though. Troopers!
EP: Do you have any good groupie stories you could share with our readers?
IR: We haven't really discovered SEX yet, but I've heard it's amazing.. Yeah.. SEX.. I've tried to hump a pie, but got burned real bad though. Feel free to introduce us.
EP: Who writes the music and lyrics for I.R.'s songs?
IR: The band as a unit writes the music, and Oscar writes the lyrics. Since we all have rather different influences, it's great when we all meet in the middle and BANG, magic appears.
EP: Music, of course, would be each band member's passion I assume, but what other interests or hobbies do each of the members have? IR: Joel is a Japanese video game nerd. Olof likes to build shit; the last thing he build was a digeridoo. Ben's taking out all his rage on a boxing game on X-box at the moment; he's very hard to reach while doing it. Oscar rides a skateboard and practices funny voices (Ninja Turtles voiceover at the moment). Dixxi is a mystery, don't really know what he's doing, maybe hanging upside-down from a tree somewhere figuring out bad jokes.
EP: Lastly, is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?
IR: Yes! If we hit the states later this year, don't be a lazy bum and stay home with your pipe - we're a full frontal f'cking rock 'n' roll show, don't miss it! We love you, and you'll love us back!
Thanks again for the interview, guys!
