Damn, this album is hot! I just had to get that out. I now have another favorite band, and this CD isn't leaving my player. Innocent Rosie really delivers on this, their debut album. The band, consisting of members Oscar Kaleva (vocals), Joel Eliasson (guitar), Benjamin Borang (Drums), and Olof Oljelund (bass), has truly succeeded in bringing back a sound that recalls the glory days of the Sunset Strip; the days when bands like Guns N' Roses, Skid Row, L.A. Guns and other sleazy bands ruled Hollywood.
"Bad Habit Romance" is one of the best albums I've heard in years. This is one of the bands that will help usher in a new era of rock 'n' roll. Bands like Innocent Rosie give me hope. Rock 'n' roll is not dead. It's alive and well in places like Sweden, from whence this band hails (I wonder how long before American rock, in general, catches up with other parts of the world?). This album shows what rock 'n' roll is supposed to sound like!
"Bad Habit Romance" is ultra sleazy and rocks from front to back and everywhere in between. Oscar's gritty vocals are a perfect fit for this band's sound, and he has become one of my favorite vocalists. This is another of those rare albums where I like every track. Innocent Rosie's sound is refreshing, from the head bangin', hard rockin' tracks like "Knock Me Out", "I'm a Vibe" and "Left Alone" that evoke memories of Skid Row and early GN'R, to the bluesier tracks such as "Let a Memory Die", "Sextalkin'" and "Don't Drag Me Down" (the last two tracks listed are my favorites), this band kicks ass. I constantly found myself pleasantly surprised when I listened to it for the first time. With the addition of the harmonica and/or piano in "Let a Memory Die", "Sextalkin'", "Don't Drag Me Down" and "I'll Get Rich", I was reminded of Great White and The Dogs D'amour, except these guys rock harder. There are plenty of sizzling guitar solos from Joel throughout this album, too. Man, do I love that the guitar solo has returned to rock music!
All I can say is, if you don't get yourself a copy of this CD you're crazy! Innocent Rosie is one solid band with solid songwriting. To get yourself a copy of "Bad Habit Romance" you can go to the band's MySpace page. Also, don't miss my interview with Innocent Rosie on our home page where we featured them as "Spotlight Band of the Week". ROCK ON!!
